Members and supporters from the club send sympathy and support to family and friends of former RFU president Jeffrey Addison who has died at the age of 91.
He was a long-time supporter of Newark RUFC and a regular spectator alongside his good friend Brian Fisher, the club’s former president, who died in 2017.
Jeff was president of the RFU 1999-2000 which coincided with the first Six Nations Championship.
As a mark of his support for Newark he presented the the special corner flags made for the from the first Italy-England match in Rome in 2000 to be on display in the Kelham Road clubhouse.
Besides his volunteering work for rugby in Notts, Lincs, Derbys and the Midlands, Jeff had a distinguished playing career having started out for Nottingham University in 1958-61.
He went on to play as a lock or No 8 for Nottingham 1951-1965 and also the Barbarians.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday 18 March at Wilford Hill Crematorium, Nottingham, NG2 7FE at 11am.
